SWR Symphonieorchester Prize
Every year, at the end of the Donaueschinger Musiktage festival, the SWR Symphonieorchester Orchestra Prize is awarded. This year, it was awarded to Agata Zubel’s piece “Outside the Realm of Time” for a hologram soloist and orchestra.
The world premiere of the piece commissioned by the festival for the SWR orchestra and the Experimentalstudio in Freiburg took place on October 14 as part of the inaugural concert of the Donaueschinger Musiktage 2022 festival. The laudatory speech emphasizes: “This is a piece that grew during rehearsals in cooperation with all performers. It challenges individual musicians, even those that go beyond what is possible, but nevertheless the joy of making music together prevails. Also because of its theme and the means used, the piece is surprising and at the same time very contemporary. The award involves the inclusion of the composition in SWR’s concerts.
